When the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts asked us if we'd like to help with a series from October 14th to October 22 called "Psychedelic Surf Films 1966-1980" we did a double take...
and said "YES!"
We're pleased as punch to be sponsoring the capstone screening of Endless Summer happening on Sunday the 22nd of October at 1PM we'll have some opening words along with a opening talk from Jeremy Rossen, assistant curator of the Harvard Film Archive!
In Rossen's words:
At the heart of all of the films in this program is an underlying message about the sanctity of nature, a DIY spirit and the desire to create a world of one’s own. The renewed interest in early surf culture perhaps stems from a resistance to the commercialization, corporate sponsorship and rampant consumerism in both surfing and society as running contrary to the sport’s humble beginnings.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
